School Transport

Children living over two/three miles from the school, within the catchment area, are entitled to free transport. Free travel permits are issued automatically once the child has been registered at school. A local company, appointed directly by County Hall (not by school) operates the school bus.

Parents of children who qualify for transport to and from school should apply to the Manager, Education Department, County Hall, Northallerton, DL7 SAE, for a bus or taxi pass.

The school bus has its first pick-up at 8.40am and travels through Scruton, picking up from various points en route to school. Children who travel on the school bus come straight into school when the bus arrives and are escorted to it at the end of the school day soon after 3.30pm. Children who live on outlying farms may be transported by taxi.

If parents wish to make alternative arrangements on any particular day, we request they advise us beforehand. Please ensure that the children are aware of the necessity to use the seatbelts on all school transport.

Please click here to see County advice regarding provision of school transport in adverse weather.

Please do not park in the school car park unless helping in school or during out of school hours. This is to limit the amount of traffic coming in and out of the car park, especially at busy times when children are walking past the entrance to prevent an accident. Please observe all the road markings and car park markings to help ease congestion and make the area outside school safer for our children. In particular please do not park on the double yellow lines on the road directly outside the school or on junctions.

In the interests of security, we ask that parents who need to visit the school during the day call first at the school office.

All visitors to school are expected to sign the visitor's book so we are aware of who is on the premises. Please ensure all gates are closed and where possible bolted.
